Easter is Coming!!
Easter is coming!!
Such a fun occasion – Easter egg hunt, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. Yet another holiday filled with sugar! Don’t get me wrong, once in a while, having some sugar is totally fine. But what happens if your kids simply can’t do it? What if they suffer from ADHD and sugar/preservatives/colorings trigger them?
I have 2 toddlers – I try not to feed them any type of preservatives or artificial colorings because I’ve gone down the rabbit hole and I know it can cause some pretty serious issues. So, what is the alternative? I don’t want my kids to miss out, I also won’t cave and buy them a whole bunch of candy that may hurt them in the long run. I want to break the cycle and make it fun WITHOUT it revolving around that white powdered stuff.
First thing I do – make a sweet treat! I usually make healthy muffins sweetened with maple syrup, honey, or dates. Or I make some healthy chocolate. But they don’t eat too much of it…so it doesn’t work for an Easter egg hunt…
This year my mother came up with a FABULOUS idea – bath bombs! My toddlers LOVE “Bomb Baths” as they call it. So a good friend of ours Cindy Watson makes bath bombs that are made with all natural ingredients and essential oils. My son has severe eczema flare ups, and these soothe him. It is great for those with even the most sensitive skin.
I’ve asked her to create an Easter special so that people can experience her wonderful products, and kids can still get an Easter egg hunt without the sugar crash tantrums. She is located 20 mins south of Ottawa, so she is local (to some of us!) and this way we support small businesses. You can contact her through Facebook here.
This is also a great idea for a romantic gift for your significant other
So try a new tradition with your kiddos this year – make a sweet treat and make them hunt for bath bombs! It will be much easier getting them into the tub this week!
I will post a fun sweet recipe that you can make with your family this year – stay tuned
